The Human Resources (HR) Coordinator will enable a culture of excellence through assisting with the implementation of various Human Resources related programs that align with departmental objectives and the organization’s vision, mission and values. 

Position Summary

The HR Coordinator is responsible for supporting the human resources department with coordinating hourly recruitment, employee events and other processes and programs. Provides great customer service to all team members. Based in our Los Angeles facility, will support all facilities. Ability to go to all Southern California facilities on an occasional basis. Our Human Resources team is a critical part in making our organization successful!

  1. Coordinates recruitment efforts.
    • Collects applications, resumes, prescreens applicants, and schedules and conducts interviews
    • Completes employment verifications and employment references
    • Follows up after interviews, books orientation and training
    • Coordinates the new hire onboarding process, and completes new hire data entry
    • Coordinates job fairs with local colleges and other community partners
  2. Assists with NRI’s Safety Program.
    • Part of the Safety Committee
    • Updates the safety board and employee files with related information
  3. Works with Operations to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
    •  Helps with administrative duties on ongoing Lean initiatives (Training, PIMP My NRI and 5S program)
  4. Supports and drives NRI’s culture by coordinating Social Responsibility activities and employee recognition.
    • Tracks employees volunteer hours
    • Coordinates volunteer, social and fundraising initiatives that are in line with NRI values
    • Coordinates the Stoked recognition program and years of service awards
  5. Initiates, develops, and executes a wide range of communication messages and programs.
    • Puts together communication memos on promotions and new team members
  6. Assists with NRI’s benefits program tracking and coordination.
    • Educates all eligible employees on their benefits, including how to process claims
    • Follows up with employees on benefits eligibility and benefits sign up
  7. Assists with administration and clerical needs of professional development and operational training programs for all departments.
    • Coordinates training programs
    • Tracks training hours
    • Maintains employee training documents
    • Follows up with Supervisors, Trainers and Team Members regarding pending training documents
  8. Supports the Human Resources function by performing other duties related to human resources
    • Performs work in a timely manner
    • Assists with research for projects
    • Verifies work to ensure accuracy and high quality before submitting it or publishing it.
    • Translates documents and communications from English to Spanish
    • Assists with benefits open enrollment, employee communications and company-wide meetings.
    • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions in person, via email or over the phone
    • Assists with maintaining employee discounts programs
    • Updates personnel status changes into WMS
    • Verifies I-9 documentation and maintains the binder current
    • Creates security cards and badges for new employees
    • Audits weekly for wage and hour/meal and rest periods legislative requirements
    • Prepares employee files
    • Maintains employee boards
    • Schedules meetings

Performs other related duties as assigned

Must Haves:·   

  •  A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Logistics or related field and/or 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • High School diploma
  • College degree or related certificate a plus
  • 3+ years Human Resources experience; Distribution Center environment preferred.
  • One to three years’ experience with windows (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Data entry and email
  • Extensive knowledge of local, state and federal labor laws
  • Project coordination experience
  • Social Media experience a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Excellent interpersonal and multitasking skills
  • Excellent at verifying work for accuracy
  • Works well independently as well as part of a team
  • Experience in continuous improvement tools/methodologies to drive customer fulfillment, quality, efficiency and safety.
